Paper Party February 01, 2017 12:42

Do you spend hours on Ravelry getting lost in all that creativity? I came across this pattern by Martina Rolin. It's called 2nd Hug. Well I couldn't wait to start it! I had the perfect cone of paper yarn I'd been waiting for just such inspiration to come along. Yes, I said paper. It's made from Rayon and yes you can wash it.  I held double Mondo fil's Japon in the perfect shell pink. I just love the drape and the feel of the blocked piece. We have plenty in stock in 9 different colors. Give us a call if you would like to make your very own Paper Party. My version has a solid back and shorter sleeves.

Knit and Holidays December 09, 2016 16:35

The Holiday's have arrived. Last minute gift making has begun. I completed a blanket and now a gift I can't mention yet because my daughter may be reading this. Let's just say it is lovely.

Now that it is December 9th, I realize that I have four other items to knit on my list. Not to mention the shop sample I started yesterday. I work best under a little pressure. So here's to timely knitting and Christmas.

Time Warp Dance October 21, 2016 07:00

Tuesday night......after the thrill of what was Hurricane Matthew had passed us by we as a City were trying to get back to normal. There was a silence in the stitch group after one of the ladies mentioned the upcoming movie remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

With out further prompting one voice started to sing the Time Warp dance and we soon all joined in bellowing the song at the top of our lungs. Now I must add that we are a group of varied individuals ranging in age from 20 to 80. Our group tonight was made up of SCAD students, attorneys, artist, company presidents, doctors, river pilots and retirees.  Interesting that this was one song we all knew.

I'm sure the tourist passing by the window were looking at us this time and not the lovely wall of yarn. Savannah is a quirky place. Happy to call it home for now.

Hurricane Matthew Everything is "all right....all right" October 19, 2016 13:34

Hurricane Matthew came in fast and furious. It was the first storm I've encountered while living in this coastal town. The night before was our stitch-n craft night. It started out slow as many locals were on edge as to whether they should leave or stay. But, the mood soon lightened. You see earlier  in the day two sisters were in the shop and we had such fun giggling and planning her projects that I was happy to see them walk in for the stitch night. Not only did they bring their fun personalities they also came with a bottle of bubbly and orange juice! So with Matthew brewing in the background we did what most Savannahians do. We had a party!
Thanks to all the new friends we make here at The Frayed Knot! Next time your in the neighborhood on a Tuesday evening stop by and join us. We can promise good laughs and the start of new friendships.

Spun Round and Round April 15, 2016 15:10

I am so taken with funky chunky art yarns. The options are limitless. This one was spun by Connor at the recent Picasso's Moon workshop. I think it wants to be a bag. Well, when it's life as a mannequins head is over. Don't worry if you missed this workshop. She will be back in the fall. Sign up for our newsletter to keep updated on the events.

Blink and Bags February 25, 2016 14:02

Our favorite bags are back in stock. They are individually created with fashion fabric that can be turned inside out for a totally different look. I match mine to the project. Great design! Don't you just love the VW bus bag?

Winter? Where? December 28, 2015 13:59

Where is winter?
Well it is not here in the South. Savannah has been a warm 80 degrees. The nice part about that is.... well cooler weather is still to come. So grab a hook or needle and finish that project. Winter weather is around the corner.

Knit ......crochet...... December 11, 2015 11:29

So much knitting and so little time. It always ends up like that. I have four gifts on the needle and two sweaters. One for myself and one for the shop. If you find yourself in the same position join me at the shop to catch up. Knitting is more fun with friends.

Holiday's...... November 28, 2015 10:58

Isn't this guy adorable? I found him on Pintrest and plan on making a few for the tree this year. The Holidays are now close at hand, but there is still time for a few finishes on our fibery items. I'll be in the shop to help you finish or start your ideas.

Thanksgiving November 19, 2015 14:30

We will be closed for November 26th and 27th to celebrate with our family. We hope you are also wrapped in the warmth of your family and friends.

Scrumptious Cashmere November 03, 2015 00:00

Pepperberry  yarn kits are now in! We love the free patterns that accompany these vibrant colors of cashmere yarn. Thinking of Holiday presents? This makes a good one. Quick and Basic knits with color changes to keep it from being boring.

Organize Me! October 28, 2015 00:00

New to our shelves are these great della Q bags. Organization is key to keeping your tools available for your project. I love how the insides are labeled with metric and imperial sizes.

Weaving in Living Color October 26, 2015 00:00

Our SCAD students already know the joy of weaving with Habu's fabulous fibers. Yes it is thin as sewing thread, but oh so rewarding. We carry the stainless steel, copper and paper varieties. There are a few knitted examples at the shop so you can see how this delicate yarn can transform your project.

Autumn Colors October 23, 2015 11:40

Hubby and I escaped to the mountains last weekend. There is nothing like cool crisp air to excite your senses. The leaves are changing in Virginia and the smell of smoke is already in the air. Apple stands and pumpkin fields dotted the landscape. I finished my cardigan and started a the Sunday Shawl by The Little Bee. Yes it is crocheted. Occasionally I do find myself crocheting. Who can resist this cozy shawl in Madeline Tosh Pasmina? I might throw in a few unicorn tails too.

Inspire Me October 21, 2015 00:00

I feel  fortunate to live among such creative people in Savannah. SCAD students are constantly inspiring me to create, learn and change. I am happy to bring to you many of their talented works
of art. Today in the shop we are featuring SCAD student Makenzye Burns. Her dolls will make you smile. Look for new works of art as the Holidays approach.

Did I hear you say Quick Knit? October 17, 2015 08:00

We are excited to offer a new local hand dyer on the block. The Savannah Yarn Co. produces chunky splashes of color. One skein of 100% Merino wool contains 140 yards. That is enough for a scarf knit on chunky US 15 or US 17 needles. Did I hear you say quick knit?

Hint of Pink October 14, 2015 13:46

I find myself sorting through a list of Holiday gifts to make. My favorite "hint of pink" yarn bowl awaits my next skein of yarn.

I think i shall started a cowl in Pepperberry  cashmere yarns. I love the selection of bright colors they offer. What do you have on your needles?

October Is In the Air October 07, 2015 16:22

Happy to feel a bit of chill in the early morning air. I'm excited to grab my needles and start a new project. Currently under consideration are The Etched Rio Wrap, Two Harbors Poncho, Forest Weave or Delphi Shawl.  Join me for a cup of coffee and begin your new project.
