Craft Night January 8, 2015 12:06
Our Tuesday Craft Night has grown to such a large group that spin off's are now forming. We have added Thursday night Crochet Group. The second one will be this Thursday from 5-8. A free granny square pattern will be offered each night that will build your skills. Of course it's similar to our Craft night where you bring your project and hook away.
Another group that has evolved into something more official is "Tea with Carol". Not only is she British, but she is an amazing knitter. Join her each Sunday from 1-4. We are excited to say that the Savannah Tea Room has teamed up with us to offer their lovely selections. Last Sunday we had Cinderella join us from Disney on Ice. One never knows who may turn up at The Frayed Knot.
Blue SkY AlPaca January 8, 2015 12:05
It is true. So many of you requested we carry the line of yarns from Blue Sky Alpaca. I'm happy to report our first shipment is here. Metalico is so soft and shimmery. We knit it up in a cute cowl and it only takes two! All color options of worsted cotton and 100% alpaca sport fill our shelves. My current favorite is the Royal Alpaca line. The patterns are just priceless.

Friends January 8, 2015 12:01
Autumn is my favorite time of the year. The crisp air returns and so do the students. Savannah College of Art and Design is our local art college located right here within the historic blocks of Savannah. The city comes alive with their arrival. It's a very exciting time.
Here at the shop we begin receiving our new fall/winter yarns and with each box comes an anticipation of wonderful people and creations to come.
The small sweaters above were created and given to us for display by friends and students who pass through our doorway. Each one comes with a happy memory of someone who has moved on or a smile of someone who is still knitting/spinning/weaving with us daily. They are such a treasured part of our collection. I love how each one represents the person who presented it. Our fiber community is so unique. I look forward to meeting and watching the creative process of each one of you.
Reminder that craft nights are every Tuesday 5pm-8pm and Saturday/Sunday 1-4pm, New to town or just passing through please join us.
Tools of the Trade January 8, 2015 12:00
Living in a tourist town has allowed me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people. One day a well tailored lady ran into the shop clutching a ball of bright purple/orange yarn. She then presented me with two straws. Dangling between the straws was this very beautiful hand dyed yarn. She had been stuck at the airport and in desperation used two drink straws to begin her project. We determined that drink straws were a US 8 sized needle and so we thus proceeded to transfer the project onto the needles. Well, this has got me thinking...........What is the most unusual item you have used as tools to crochet or knit?

Soak ! January 8, 2015 12:00We just love this wool wash. Simple to use and such lovely smells. Or we carry the no scent for those who prefer. A must try for all of your hand knit/crochet needs. We think you will just love it too.
Summer Flops January 8, 2015 11:59Only one skein of Cascade Fixation is needed to create these fun flip flop socks. Great summer quick project. We are all wearing them with our sandals.
Laurie Lovell Art Show January 8, 2015 11:59
We recently ventured to Beaufort, SC to see the opening of Lovell/Male Studio located in the ARTworks Center on Boundry Street. What a lovely display of fiber art. The exhibit encourages you to consider aspects of perception beyond the material plane. Their fine art work is an exploration of applied pattern and texture. We encourage you to stop in and say hi to Laurie and Cindy.
Meet Lambert January 8, 2015 11:58Meet Lambert. His creator Alaina Breed is one of the talented SCAD students we have had the pleasure of getting to know this year. Lambert will be hanging around with us through out the summer and we couldn't be more thrilled. Savannah has already become far more quiet now that the students are packing to leave. Congratulations to all the graduates!

Ravelry Adventures January 8, 2015 11:14
Ravelry! Such a wonderful source of patterns, advice and friendships. This week we had the honor to encounter a group of women who met in a Ravelry group. After months of online conversations and yarn swaps they decided that they should meet in person. So they chose Savannah. Their energy was intoxicating! I was so inspired that I have now started another shawl project. So keep us in mind for your future meet up's. We would be happy to host you for a real Savannah knit experience. Thank you ladies!
Bias Before and After January 8, 2015 11:13
Our favorite scarf pattern by Churchmouse Yarns. The Before and After scarf is a delight to knit. Using a single skein of Classic Elite Silky Alpaca Lace or for another version use a single skein of Habu cotton boucle. One of the most touchable samples in the shop. We are sure you will enjoy making it as much as we did!
New Yarns by Copper Corgi January 8, 2015 11:12
Delightful new baby yarns from our local dyer The Copper Corgi. Our favorite is Eeyore, but Rabbits Garden and Piglet are flying off the shelves. Yes it is super wash sport weight merino yarn. Such a lovely feel.
Mom's January 8, 2015 11:12
Wonderful pattern by Churchmouse Yarns called the Shoulder Cozy. We have had such fun making different renditions of this simple yet impressive pattern. Quick knit suggestion for MOther's Day. We found this marigold colored version is most popular for Spring/Summer. Three skeins of Shibui's Heichi and one skein of their silk held in combo on a US 13 needle.
