Blocking and Seaming Class
The devil is in the details when it comes to crafting a polished and professional knitted or crocheted item. Blocking and seaming are essential techniques to use for a professional product. These two things go hand in hand as you will learn in this two-part class.
First, you will learn the how and why of blocking. You will bring in swatches to wet block and learn how to use blocking tools to smooth out any slight tension issues and straighten out your edges. You will leave those swatches to dry until the second half of the class-seaming. Here you will learn how to keep your seams straight and which techniques are best for different seam placements.
Once you know the ins and outs of these techniques, you'll be able to create handmade items that really shine.
Materials Needed:
-Worsted weight natural fiber yarn.
-Size us 7 or 8 (4.5mm or 5.0mm) needle -Tapestry needle
Homework: Please make 2 stockinette swatches by casting on 30 stitches and work in stockinette (knitting RS rows, purling WS rows) for 4". Bind off. If you're feeling industrious, you may also bring a garter swatch- cast on 30 stitches and work in garter (knitting every row) for 4", then bind off. Bring your swatches to class.
Class Size is limited to 8
Class is held over two sessions:
December 3rd blocking(Sunday) 12:30-2:30 and
December 9th seaming (Saturday) 10:00am- 12:00

Cancellations
Please provide at least 48 hours advance notice before the start of your first class for store credit. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice notice are non-refundable.
Missed Classes
We cannot offer make-up sessions or credit for missed classes. Out of respect for your instructor and classmates, we kindly ask that you arrive on time.
